Dr. Rawan Tannous brings over 20 years of hands-on experience to every appointment. A graduate of Nova Southeastern University, she completed Advanced Education in General Dentistry and a specialized residency in special needs dentistry — and continues to pursue continuing education to stay at the leading edge of modern dental care.
We see patients of all ages — from young children building their first dental habits to seniors who have been with this practice for decades. Many of our patients have referred their entire families to us. That kind of trust is what we work toward every single day.
We understand that many patients arrive with anxiety, past negative experiences, or years of dental avoidance. Our entire team is trained to create a calm, patient-centered environment. We explain everything before we do it, move at your pace, and never recommend treatment you do not genuinely need.
Dr. Tannous is one of a select group of dentists in Indiana certified by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics to administer Botox. She also serves as adjunct faculty at the Indiana University School of Dentistry — an academic role that reflects a level of clinical expertise recognized by the state's leading dental institution.
Carmel West Dentistry was established in the 1950s. When Dr. Tannous took ownership in 2020, she carried forward that legacy — the same team culture, the same community relationships, and the same commitment to exceptional care. Most patients benefit from a professional cleaning and exam every six months. However, patients with certain conditions — such as gum disease, a history of cavities, or dry mouth — may benefit from visits every three to four months. Dr. Tannous will recommend the right schedule based on your specific needs during your first visit.
Modern dentistry has come a long way — most treatments involve little to no discomfort. Dr. Tannous uses a gentle, careful approach and ensures you are fully comfortable before beginning any procedure. For patients with dental anxiety, we also offer nitrous oxide sedation. Just let us know when you book and we will plan your appointment accordingly.
Yes. We accept most major dental insurance plans, including Delta Dental, MetLife, CIGNA, Aetna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Anthem, GEHA, Ameritas, BlueCross BlueShield, and Medicare Advantage. We also accept CareCredit financing. For patients without insurance, our Dental Wellness Membership starts at $475 per year and includes two cleanings, two exams, X-rays, and 20% off all other procedures.
The right treatment depends on the size, location, and severity of the damage or decay. A small cavity typically calls for a filling. A tooth that is cracked, broken, or significantly decayed usually needs a crown. A missing tooth may be best replaced with an implant, bridge, or partial denture. Dr. Tannous takes a conservative approach and will always explain your options clearly — recommending only what you genuinely need.
