Dr. Rawan Tannous is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) with over 20 years of experience in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and facial esthetics. She earned her dental degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2006, completed a two-year Advanced Residency in General Dentistry, and an additional specialized residency treating patients with special needs — before establishing herself as a trusted dental professional in the Carmel, Indiana community.
Dr. Tannous is known for her meticulous attention to detail, her conservative approach — recommending only what patients genuinely need — and her ability to make even the most anxious patients feel completely at ease. As adjunct faculty at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, she brings teaching-grade clinical expertise to every appointment at Carmel West Dentistry.
Dr. Tannous is passionate about comprehensive, comfortable dental care for every patient. After completing her dental degree at Nova Southeastern University in 2006 and a two-year Advanced Residency in General Dentistry, she completed an additional residency dedicated entirely to providing dental care for patients with special needs. This unique training gave her a depth of compassion and clinical adaptability that continues to define her approach to patient care today.
In 2020, Dr. Tannous took ownership of Carmel West Dentistry, a practice with roots going back to the 1950s. Rather than starting fresh, she chose to honour the legacy built by Dr. Segal and Dr. Halsema before her — carrying forward the same community trust, warm team culture, and commitment to clinical excellence that patients had relied on for generations.
Known for her artistic eye and conservative philosophy, Dr. Tannous believes that the best dentistry is the dentistry that respects what patients already have — intervening thoughtfully, communicating honestly, and always putting long-term health above short-term solutions. She is certified by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE) to administer Botox for TMJ relief, bruxism, and facial esthetics — one of a small number of dentists in Indiana with this specialised training.
Dedicated to lifelong learning and the advancement of the profession, Dr. Tannous serves as adjunct faculty at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, mentoring the next generation of dental professionals. She volunteers with Give Kids A Smile and is a proud partner of the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Program, providing free dental screenings to Special Olympics athletes. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children, and loves travelling, exploring new cultures, and cooking for family and friends. She is fully fluent in English, Arabic, and French — Arabic-speaking patients are warmly welcome at our practice.
Dr. Tannous offers a comprehensive range of dental services for patients of all ages in Carmel, Indiana. From preventive care to advanced cosmetic treatments and the exclusive Gum Builder Therapy — available only at Carmel West Dentistry — every service is delivered with expertise, precision, and genuine care.
Dr. Tannous is committed to staying at the forefront of modern dental technology and technique. She uses quiet electric handpieces that eliminate the loud drill sound that causes anxiety in many patients. Digital X-rays reduce radiation exposure while producing higher-resolution diagnostic images. As adjunct faculty at the IU School of Dentistry, she continuously teaches and learns — ensuring that the care at Carmel West Dentistry reflects the most current, evidence-based standards in the profession. Every appointment is unhurried, thorough, and built entirely around the patient.
